Meet Kathryn: A Chiropractor’s Passion for Pain-Free Living

Why I Became a Chiropractor

Becoming a chiropractor wasn’t just a career choice for me—it was a calling. My mission is to help as many people as possible reduce their pain and get back to doing the things they love. Whether it’s chasing after the kids, excelling on the pitch, or simply sitting comfortably at a desk, I’m here to support that journey.

Supporting Athletes and Young Patients

Now, I have a soft spot for athletes. There’s something truly rewarding about aiding someone’s recovery from a sports injury and seeing them thrive again. But my passion doesn’t stop there. I’m a firm believer in championing women in sport—it’s exciting to be part of a movement that’s breaking barriers and setting new records! On the other end of the spectrum, I also love working with paediatric patients. Helping younger individuals improve their health and mobility is an incredibly fulfilling part of my job. Let’s face it, when a child gives you a smile of relief, it’s a pretty special moment.

My Journey at Active Health Clinics

I’ve been part of the Active Health Clinics team for nearly two months now, and wow, what an adventure it’s been! I’ve met so many wonderful people, each with their own unique goals and stories. Whether they come to me with a nagging lower back pain or tight shoulders from hours hunched over a laptop, I’m here to help them feel better. As chiropractors, treating discomfort in the lower back, neck, and shoulders is our bread and butter. So, if you’re reading this and thinking, “That’s me!” don’t hesitate to reach out. You can book an appointment online or over the phone—I’d love to help you too.

Top Tips for Desk Workers

Now, I want to share a little nugget of advice that could make a world of difference for desk workers. Let’s paint a picture: you’re deep in concentration, firing off emails, and suddenly you realise hours have passed. Sound familiar? Unfortunately, sitting for long periods can wreak havoc on your lower back, neck, and shoulders. Over time, it’s no surprise this discomfort starts to creep into your day-to-day life, making even simple tasks feel like a chore.

Here’s my golden rule: don’t sit for more than 45 minutes at a time. Seriously, your body will thank you! Set a timer if you need to (there are some great apps out there), and when it buzzes, it’s your cue to move. Stand up, stretch your legs, and, if you can, take a quick five-minute walk. Better yet, step outside and breathe in some fresh air. It’s not just about easing physical discomfort—this little habit can also work wonders for your mental health and productivity. Think of it as hitting the reset button.

A lot of my patients tell me how transformative this simple change can be. They feel more energised, less stiff, and much more focused. So, why not give it a go? Your body will reward you with fewer aches and pains, and your mind will feel clearer too. Win-win, right?
