Chiropractic

Effective & non-invasive treatment to relieve pain and musculoskeletal problems

Chiropractic is a straight-forward and effective technique that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders involving the muscles, joints & bones and their effects on the nervous system and general health.

It’s a natural method of treatment which promotes healing while stimulating the body’s communication system to work more effectively to initiate, control and coordinate the various functions of the cells, organs and systems of the body.

Early access to a chiropractor can considerably improve recovery time, therefore reducing the time you are absent from work and living a normal lifestyle.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Active Health Clinics, we prioritise quality of care over rushed treatments.

Initial consultations typically last up to 45 minutes to 1 hour, allowing time for a thorough assessment and clear explanation of your condition.

Follow-up appointments are usually up to 15–20 minutes, depending on the practitioner and your needs. This gives us enough time to reassess, treat, and adapt your plan as you progress.

Our approach is not a “quick 5-minute adjustment and out”—we focus on delivering effective, personalised care each session.

No—X-rays are only recommended when clinically necessary.

At Active Health Clinics, we follow evidence-based guidelines and will only refer for imaging if it’s indicated, such as when we need to rule out specific conditions or investigate further.

Many people can be safely and effectively assessed and treated without the need for X-rays.

Yes—chiropractic care is considered safe when carried out by a qualified and regulated practitioner.

All of our chiropractors are fully registered and follow strict clinical guidelines. Your treatment will always be tailored to you, taking into account your medical history, symptoms, and individual needs.

Chiropractors commonly help with back pain, neck pain, headaches, joint issues, and postural problems.

They can also support recovery from injuries and help improve movement and function as part of a wider treatment plan.

Not necessarily.

While chiropractic adjustments can be an effective part of treatment, your care may also include soft tissue work, rehabilitation exercises, and advice depending on your needs.

We tailor each session to what will benefit you most at that stage of your recovery.

Most adjustments are not painful. You may feel a brief sensation of pressure or movement, and sometimes a clicking sound, which is completely normal.

Some people may feel mild soreness afterwards, similar to post-exercise discomfort, but this usually settles quickly.

This depends on your condition, how long you’ve had it, and your goals.

Some people improve within a few sessions, while others—particularly with longer-standing issues—may benefit from a more structured plan. We’ll always explain our recommendations clearly and review your progress as you go.

In most cases, yes—treatment is carried out during your initial consultation.

However, if there are any contraindications, or if your condition requires a more detailed history and examination that uses the full session time, treatment may be carried out at your next appointment instead.

Our priority is always to ensure treatment is appropriate, safe, and tailored to your needs.

Yes—many of our patients are not particularly active and come to us with issues related to daily life, such as desk work, posture, or general stiffness.

Chiropractic care is about helping your body move and function better, whatever your lifestyle.

Yes—this is a key part of our approach.

Our chiropractors work closely with physiotherapists, osteopaths, massage therapists, and strength & conditioning coaches within the clinic. We share notes and communicate regularly, so if your care involves multiple practitioners, your treatment plan is aligned and working towards the same goal.

Yes—chiropractic care can help with sciatica by improving movement in the lower back, reducing irritation around the affected area, and supporting recovery through a combination of hands-on treatment and rehabilitation.

Treatment is always tailored to the individual and may also involve advice and exercises to help prevent recurrence.

For a more detailed explanation of causes and treatment options, see our sciatica article.

If you’re experiencing ongoing back pain, neck pain, joint discomfort, or restricted movement, a chiropractor may be able to help.

Chiropractic care focuses on improving how your body moves and functions, as well as reducing pain. If we feel another practitioner would be more suitable, we’ll guide you in the right direction.

If you’re unsure, a free 15-minute discovery consultation can help you decide.
