Celebrating 15 Years of Active Health Clinics Care in the Community

“I don’t know where the time has gone…” These words ring truer than ever as we celebrate 15 incredible years at Active Health Clinic (AHC).

Celebration Weekend

Last month, our team gathered for a memorable weekend in Hampshire, reminiscing about our journey and achievements. That weekend coincided almost perfectly with the anniversary of our clinic’s opening, and it made me reflect on the day I stood in front of those doors with 20 keys in my hand, not knowing which one would unlock our future. I could never have imagined how far we would come in 15 years.

Everything starts with the team

Our anniversary celebration with the team was the perfect way to mark this milestone because everything starts with the team. The members of the Active Health team possess a unique DNA that sets them apart. They genuinely care about their patients, fostering a community and family feel that is unparalleled. This ethos is established and reinforced from the moment a new member is interviewed. If that DNA runs through you, you’ll naturally want to be part of AHC. Sure, there are challenges—like enduring daily hugs from me—but I am convinced that eventually, even the coldest person melts with a warm embrace.

It’s down to the laws of attraction. Like attracts like. People in pain seek care from experienced practitioners who genuinely care about their well-being in a warm, friendly environment. It’s a vulnerable time when you’re in pain, filled with uncertainty about your future and who to trust. Having a practitioner you can trust, respect, and like makes a significant difference.

Our principles and blueprint

Sticking to our principles and refining our blueprint has been key to our success, despite challenges along the way. Some competitors have taken a more aggressive, business-oriented approach to health, which may seem attractive on the surface. But for us, the message has always been clear: focus fully on the needs of the patient in front of you, and success will follow. None of our team members entered healthcare for the money; they did it to help people. Some of my happiest memories are from treating patients in the college-supervised clinic, where we didn’t get paid but felt immense satisfaction from helping others. Today, with personal responsibilities and financial needs, the biggest reward still comes from seeing our patients get better. It might sound cheesy, but it’s the truth, and we’re lucky to be paid for what we love doing.

Community is at our core

Community is a core value at AHC—not just the amazing community we serve but also the one we’ve built within our clinic. Being Maidenhead born and bred, I have a deep connection to this place. I grew up here, went to school here, played sports here, and eventually set up my business here. While my passion for Maidenhead has been tested at times, it’s the people who make it special. We’ve always aimed to support our community, whether through running and walking groups, social games evenings, free workshops, or charity days where we’ve raised over £12K for Alexander Devine and Thames Hospice.

Sometimes, when you’re in the thick of it, it takes a kind word from someone to make you step back and see what you’ve achieved over these years. Maybe it’s because I see this not just as my achievement, but ours. After all, you’re only as good as the team beside you. And this team is extraordinary.

Look at what WE’VE achieved!
